Pearl

Pearls are the organic gems of the sea. Fresh from the shell, a pearl can be worn and admired without any polishing or cutting. Different mollusks, whether fresh water or salt water, produce different kinds of pearl, such as Akoyas, Tahitians, South Sea or Fresh Water pearls. This contributes to a wide range of color, luster, and orient, which in combination gives the rainbow iridescence that makes a pearl so precious. When wearing pearls, take great caution not to expose the pearls to harsh chemicals or extreme change in temperatures as this may weaken the outer layers of the pearl called nacre. These layers of nacre (rhymes with acre) are actually layers of calcium carbonate. The pearl is the birthstone for June.

They give purity and promote faith, charity, and integrity, truth and loyalty.
