K-2 Azurite in Granite Pebbles
This is one of the stones we got in Tucson this year, which I'm just now having time to maybe post and share. It's one of the strangest stones I've seen in awhile--kinda looking like it has a bad case of blue chickenpox. But, dango, this rock has some game.
Christopher handed me a bag of these pebbles while I was processing a bunch of product for the store, doing very left-brain things, and it did one of those wave-crashing, taking-my-head-right-off things. Every once and awhile I get gobsmacked by rocks that have altering properties and this was definitely in the top 10 of gobsmackers.
K-2 is not named for the pseudo-pot substance found in head shops, although... funny, considering it's mind altering properties. No, it is named for the second tallest mountain in the world, near where the stone is mined. Italian climber, Fosco Maraini, had this to say about the mountain, "...just the bare bones of a name, all rock and ice and storm and abyss. It makes no attempt to sound human. It is atoms and stars. It has the nakedness of the world before the first man--or of the cindered planet after the last."
I thought that was a pretty way to say it. This stuff is almost cosmic. I haven't done a full reading on it, and I want to, but I can say that it is absolutely a stone to grab when you need to get energetic, spiritual, or very wooey stuff done. The stone itself apparently is making some geologists scratch their heads because granite and azurite aren't usually kanoodling in the same rock. Some claim that the blue dots are painted on because they can't wrap their heads around this particular combination. Hey, Smarty Pantses, rocks often do what they want and are not obligated to make sense to you. Just sayin.
I like these for meditation stones, for sure, or to put in a grid to create a giant energy field of awesome alteredness. If you want to work specifically on your 3rd eye, I would gently hold one of these stones up to that energy center and imagine breathing through the rock and into your head, and out again. If you get a 3rd eye headache, stop.
