Amethyst Elestial Etched Self-Healed with Mica Inclusions
(AKA: The weirdest amethyst I've ever seen in my life.)

Ok, funny story.  I posted a photo of the crystal last week before I had a chance to post it because it is, quite literally, the weirdest amethyst I've ever seen before.  My mother, who is not a potty mouth with her mind in the gutter, said, "I wonder what Freud would say about this crystal."  So, I've already had a few laughs with this specimen.

It's just weird.  Weird in a glorious way.  First, it's only amethyst on one edge of the crystal.  The other side is completely clear quartz with mica inclusions.  Second, the amethyst side has been etched by some geolgical process and has formed these interesting patterns, one which looks like a heart to me. The patterns are made more dramatic with the iron oxide coating on the amethyst only side of the crystal and a very deliberate looking smoky quartz "outline".  Ok.  It might be a smidge phallic looking, my mom was right, but it also looks like a hooded figure to me.  Towards the tip of the crystal the etched away area has also self-healed, so there are tiny little triangular terminations.

I don't know.  This is a crazy, weird crystal.  I've never seen anything like it.  I have half a mind to keep it.

This specimen measures approximately 4 1/8 x 1 3/4 x 1 1/4" and weighs approximately .47 lbs.
